In the process of creating a productive mask supply chain, Supermax Healthcare Canada had the ambition to design a line of higher-level certified masks. With this vision in mind, they have worked hard to design and build high-tech devices that reduce manufacturing time and increase the efficiency of disposable masks. For the company, the last two years have been significant regarding the innovation of the machinery that produces their Aurelia masks.
The mission – to manufacture masks and increase production efficiency
The year 2020 was the year of realization, namely to become a 100% Canadian manufacturer of disposable masks. All this to facilitate the supply of personal protective equipment for the Canadian market. The company reacted quickly to purchase machinery, find partners for the necessary materials and then began to develop a leading-edge expertise as a mask manufacturer. All in record time!

2021 marked the development of machines for the production of ASTM 1, 2 and 3 disposable masks. With their machines, Aurelia aims to surpass the standards.
During this period, the company:
- Conducts analysis on their n° 1, n° 2 and n° 3 machines to maximize mask production;
- Works diligently to develop a machine that is fully tuned to the highest quality production optimization criteria;
- Establishes a state-of-the-art controlled environment.
But above all, we witnessed a lightning progression of machine n° 1, n° 2 and n° 3 to finally reach the paroxysm with machine n° 4, affectionately nicknamed “Our precious jewel”. This machine surpasses the others by its increased durability as well as the manufacturing quality.
This was the most innovative year since Supermax Healthcare Canada began.

The year 2022 will undoubtedly be the crowning year.
Currently, the factory is composed as follows:
- The Longueuil facility employs a total of 40 people. It is equipped with a robotized assembly line on four machines, with six robots per machine, for a total of 24 robots.
- The overall target efficiency rate is 75 to 85% for the four machines on the site.
Due to the high demand, the company will make adjustments and, starting in February, set up an evening shift to optimize their production of masks.

Supermax Healthcare Canada is dedicated to providing excellent service to its customers. As of January 2022, they will once again be able to emerge in terms of ease of supply with the centralization of their inventory in their new warehouse in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville.

In order to make an informed choice regarding a face mask, it is important to know the different features that ensure optimal protection. Specific criteria must be met in five categories:
- Bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) — measures the mask’s ability to filter bacteria through the fabric.
- Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) — measures the effectiveness of a mask fabric to filter sub-micron particles from passing through it.
- Fluid resistance — measures the mask’s ability to resist penetration of synthetic blood under pressure.
- Differential pressure (delta P) — measures breathability.
- The degree of flammability — measures the rate at which the fabric burns.
